His brother comes in so late with such a weird build that in the unlikely event you are even able to save him, most people will be head-scratching at what to do with him.īut yes, Owlcat seems to have an obsession with making quirky boutique builds on everyone, and in a game that seriously punishes low +attack bonus and TWF with super high AC and DR until you get Mythic feats to LOL-no-rules-for-me it, it's a bit sad. Sosiel is mainly there with a reach weapon to provide flanking, he's never going to hurt anyone with it. I will admit if she could access a level dip of zen archer herself it would be much closer, but not being able to is just such a huge downside, zen archer for ranged characters is probably the most impactful 1 level dip in the entire game. Compare Aru to any party member but Lann and she wins out, but Lann is just so much better then literally everyone else he still beats her. I think being better for 90% of the game counts for more then technically being a bit stronger at endgame. Yes linear warriors quadratic wizards is a thing and casters can put out crazy damage late game but the two of them are extremely good throughout the entire game while casters are mostly stuck in a pure support roll early game on higher difficulties due to enemy numbers and spell res. In fact they are probably party member 1 and 2 in terms of combat effectiveness. That being said they were both in my party throughout my playthrough and I never regretted it, they are both extremely good. It really cannot be overstated how much of an effect it is that you get to control his level ups from 2 onward and his level 1 is in what is easily the best level dip for ranged so you can build him into whatever type of ranged demigod you want. If you want you can literally just have him take levels 2-20 in ranger himself and he very obviously outdoes her at her own game in every way besides picking locks, and that's not even the most optimal build it is just the easiest to do.

means getting high AC for free is never really a bad thing) cause monk which she can never get due to her alignment. I disagree, Lann is much better then her as an archer and combat in general because you get him at level 1 and he has access to flurry of blows and free high AC (yes archers should be in the backline but enemy archers, ambushes, etc.

Plus his domains are awesome swift action buffs for the other (better) melees. Sosiel with a Glaive actually works, especially in turn mode, because it has reach and keeps his wrong-armored ass away from the battle. But hey, she can heal the undead minions of your Lich! The only thing that isn't minmaxing nirvana about her is that she's evil, and so she can't heal with her Lay on Hands equivalent. While she can easily cast lvl2-3 divine buffs with a headpiece. It really only works in this game, where Mythic feats allow for the ignoring of all penalities from both TWF and Rapid Shot, but she becomes the real machine gun of death if built right, giving Lann (and prolly even Arue) a run for his money.įighting a Zen Archer in damage in Pathfinder is a crazy proposition but if you level her deep in Cult Leader you turn both of those 1H throwing weapons into 2d6 weapons, stack the clear double of attacks for round of archers and each of those attacks has 7d6 sneak dices. Wenduag dual wielding throwing weapons is an absolute beast. It's absurd how much people are sleeping on Wenduag, she has more build potential of all other companions combined. Feels like everything else they did could have been a commercial success, but was just a bit riskier doing it all with their own property. Some more PR, and it might still be a thing.

It's kind of a shame obsidian didn't use a pnp gaming license and created their own IP. Felt like they were on the precipice of updating the technology fully to me - one or two more iterations, a little deeper hybridization and it could have been like isometric never went away. In many ways more attractive than pure 3d, lower resource demand, and a fair bit simpler to interact with. Really didn't feel bogged down by fetch and carry or exhaust all dialogue options like many rpgs.Īlso literally the only game in existence to advance isometric graphics to a hybrid system to the point of using reflections etc. A lot of people were disappointed with the way the main story arc closed, but the NPCs were great, and the way the setting and minor arcs all tied into the themes was amazing. True, that's the advantage of doing it that way - either choice fits the lore.
